JARLATH BLAIR

My name is Jarlath, or ‘Iarfhlaith’ in gaelic.

I grew up in Northern Ireland, near the small Quaker village of Bessbrook in South Armagh, which once produced some of the worlds finest linens.

Bordering the Republic of Ireland, this particular part of Northern Ireland, Newry & Mourne, with it’s breathtaking scenery, is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). This is where the mountains of Mourne flow down to the sea, and is home to the infamous Ring of Gullion. A unique geological formation, with a reputation that arises from its association with Celtic folklore and mythical figures. It’s been my inspiration, no matter how far from home I have been. And having spend most of my life living in the southern hemisphere, Australia and New Zealand, there is no grander sight than that of the Mourne mountains on my journey back home.

You should come visit some time!

Now residing in Cumberland BC, Canada, most of my work is a reflection of Ireland. A self taught artist, I use oils as my preferred medium. I focus mainly on landscapes, preferring to sell originals of my art, but ‘prints are available’. It’s important for me that you feel what you get is a unique and one of a kind art piece.

My photographs capture fleeting moments, each a story to their own. Using a FujiFilm X100V, the images are straight out of camera. They are available as prints in many different sizes.

Whilst every effort has been made in trying to keep the photos of my paintings as close to the actual likeness as possible. So some of the tonal expressions may not be 100% accurate due to the lighting.

Please enjoy this portfolio of my most recent works, and feel free to contact me for any queries for pricing on canvas prints and original pieces.
